Have you ever removed a wall only to find bigger problems lurking beneath? That’s exactly what happened when the Lutheran Church in Marlton, New Jersey decided to expand their meeting space. As they took down walls, they discovered their concrete floor was in serious need of repair due to years of wear and a faulty previous installation.
Uncovering Hidden Issues
Imagine peeling back layers of old flooring to reveal an uneven, cracked surface showing clear signs of moisture damage. That’s what you’d have seen if you were there when the walls came down. It was obvious that this floor needed more than just a quick fix.
Our Approach: Repair, Protect, and Enhance
Here’s how we tackled the problem: We started by grinding down the existing flooring. This crucial step removes the old surface and creates a smooth base for the new epoxy to adhere to properly. As we worked, the true extent of the floor’s condition became clear, revealing the challenges we’d need to address.
Next, we laid down a moisture vapor barrier. Think of this as your floor’s raincoat, protecting it from ground moisture that could cause damage down the line.
Durable Beauty with “Creekbed” Flake
For the main flooring, we used our “Creekbed” flake blend. This mix creates a natural, earthy look that’s both attractive and functional. Not only does it look great, but it also gives you better traction, making the space safer for everyone.
After letting the base layer set overnight (good things take time!), we came back to remove excess flakes and apply the finishing touch – a polyaspartic top coat. This final layer adds shine and provides exceptional protection against stains and everyday wear and tear.
A Renewed Meeting Space
The new meeting room floor is not only attractive but built to last. It’s easy to clean and tough enough to handle whatever activities they plan. The renewed surface creates a welcoming atmosphere for gatherings, transforming the entire feel of the room.
