Epoxy Flooring Upgrade in Camden, NJ
The Rutgers art gallery in Camden, NJ had an aging carpet that the client wanted to remove. The Campus Gallery required a floor that could withstand constant foot traffic, look clean and professional, and be easy to maintain, which is where Swayd came in.
The Challenge: Removing the Carpet
Before jumping in, we inspected the flooring to locate seams, transitions, and areas with excessive adhesive buildup. We identified multiple layers of old carpet glue that had penetrated the concrete and couldn’t be removed by simple scraping.
We carefully removed the old carpeting and tack strips. Because of all the carpet glue that had built up, we had to use a multi-stage approach that included some grinding, scraping and aggressive vacuuming to collect all dust and debris.
“Quartzite” Flake: The Perfect Hybrid Option

The customer chose “Quartzite” flake, a hybrid flake epoxy composed of smaller and larger pieces of quartz and polymer flake. This combination is designed to mimic the look of polished concrete. We took the time to broadcast the flakes evenly: the quartz adds depth, while the polymer component adds durability.
After allowing for the proper curing time, we removed the excess flakes and applied a polyaspartic top coat. This top coat provides abrasion and chemical resistance, extending the life of the flooring system.
The “Art” of Flooring Transformations
Not only does the finished product look more professional, but the upgraded surface also offers excellent wear resistance, visual depth, and slip control. It’s the perfect option for a space that receives high foot traffic. Plus, it’s easy for the staff to clean and maintain.
