Winery Flooring Renovation at Iron Plow Vineyards

iron plow vineyards A Large-Scale Winery Flooring Project

When the new owners of Iron Plow Vineyards (soon to be renamed) contacted Swayd Epoxy, they needed industrial-grade flooring that could handle the demands of wine production while still impressing guests during tastings. At over 2,200 square feet, this wasn’t just any project—it was a complete winery flooring transformation.

The Challenge: Years of Wine Production Wear

The concrete floor had seen years of heavy use under previous ownership. The surface was stained with wine and chemical spills, dirt, and residue that had accumulated over time. For a space that would now serve as a working production facility and a customer-facing tasting area, they needed food-safe flooring that was durable, chemical-resistant, and visually appealing.

Our Commercial Epoxy Installation Process

This winery flooring project required significant prep work. Our team spent extra time diamond grinding the concrete to create the proper profile for adhesion. We meticulously removed years of wine stains and chemical buildup from the previous operations. This thorough preparation was critical to ensure the new epoxy coating would bond properly and provide lasting durability for the wine production area.

Step 2: Base Coat Application

Once we achieved a clean, properly profiled surface, we applied a commercial-grade epoxy base coat. For a winery, we selected a system that would resist acidic wine spills and cleaning chemicals while providing the durability needed for heavy production equipment.

Step 3: Decorative Flake Broadcasting

While the base coat was still wet, we broadcast the decorative flakes. For this wine production facility, we selected a flake blend that would complement the aesthetic of both a working facility and a customer tasting room while helping to create a slip-resistant surface.

Step 4: Final Sealing

After allowing proper cure time, we returned to apply the polyaspartic top coat. This final layer provides UV protection, enhanced chemical resistance, and a smooth, glossy finish that’s easy to clean—perfect for a beverage production space where spills happen regularly.

Functional Winery Flooring

The new epoxy flake system effectively addressed the winery’s needs. The previously stained concrete was replaced with a clean, consistent surface that performs well in both production and customer-facing areas. The floor now resists wine and chemical spills, supports heavy equipment, and maintains its appearance with minimal maintenance.

According to the vineyard owners, the new floor has significantly improved their production capabilities while creating a more professional environment for hosting wine tastings.
